Qi Gong for Health Feedback
Alice After 5 weeks of taking Ba Duan Jin Qi Gong class, I feel very healthy and felt this was a positive experience. I learnt the steps and practiced at home frequently. I find out that it helps lessen my back pain resulting from sitting behind a computer. I felt taking this class is definitely a positive foundation for a healthy well being. Carmine Verrone I feel Ba Duan Jin has helped me with practicing Kung Fu and Chi Kung. I am stronger and have a higher degree of concentration. I continue to practice Ba Duan Jin everyday, to get its full benefit and to align my Chi. I am thankful for the superior instruction I have received from the Venerable Shi Guolin and the other instructors at the Shaolin Temple. They have given me a strong understanding of Chinese medicine, Chi, using Kung Fu for self defense, exercise and a form of mediation. This philosophy is a moral and spiritual compass that can help guide you through your life. I feel grounded and centered and come away with a deep sense of self enlightenment. Gloria Mai The 5 weeks of Ba Duan Jin QiGong practice has been a wonderful experience to me. I personally feel many positive changes to my lifestyle and health. My body used to be very inflexible and I suffered from insomnia. After the practice, I am now able to sleep better and gain lower body strength. I feel rejuvenated and have higher level of endurance. I will certain keep practicing the forms at home. I am also motivated to attend the monthly practice so as to sharpen and maintain my skill level. Mason / Mu Shijiang I wanted to say that taking the Ba Duan Jin course was a great experience for me. Master Guolin was very precise with explaining every little detail. He emphasized twisting shoulders and waist but keeping hips stable. This is more easily said than done. Shifu also demonstrated which parts of the form have fighting applications. I was stunned. I never would have thought so many fighting applications would come from this one form. Overall, I really enjoyed the class and students that attended. I would recommend anyone to take this course for its many health benefits. Marc Bassin I have been around the martial arts-Tai Chi-Qi Gong world for the past twenty years and have had the fortunate opportunity to study with a number of fine teachers. However nothing has compared with this. If you are interested in exploring Qi Gong for health, I don't believe you will find a more impactful experience anywhere. To spend time working directly with master Shi Guolin as he guides you deeper and deeper into both the practice and health understanding of this beautiful and powerful form is a rare privilege. The limited class size enabled Sifu to work slowly and individually with all of us. His patience, warm smile, hearty laugh and unbridled enthusiasm to have us truly understand each of the movements in depth was so appreciated by us all. No one missed any classes. As the form became more and more familiar all of us seemed to love it even more and the collective energy and determination to do it just a bit better each week was contagious. The form itself is beautiful, deceptively simple, yet rich and powerful. Each class Sifu took us deeper into the intricacies of its details. As we became more familiar with the movements, Sifu introduced us to the even more powerful and important internal aspects which is where the health benefits really reside. I leave this class with a new, dear friend for life, Ba Duan Jin , and even greater determination to continue delving deeper into this incredible world of Qi Gong. I have practiced every day since the class and can't wait until Sifu takes us further into this nourishing world. Don't miss the opportunity it took me twenty years to find. Angela The Ba Duan Jin course is appealing to me because the form can be practiced at any place or time. It is a Qi gong form that helped improve my health. During the class, Master Guolin taught every movement with detailed explanations to make us fully understand its health benefits. The movements were simple yet powerful. When I practice Ba Duan Jin, I feel my whole body become energized yet it is a relaxing form and I feel comfortable. Before I started taking the class, I would get tired very easily. After the course, I feel that I have become stronger both mentally and physically. I will continue practicing Ba Duan Jin so that I could have a healthier life. Heng Ru My name is Heng Ru and I have practiced in the Shaolin Temple for nearly ten years. During my time at the temple, I have learned several Qigong courses including including “ Yi Jin Jing” , “ Xi Er Da Jing Fa” , “ Liu Qi Jue” etc. and have reaped many benefits from them. Despite my previous experience with other Qigong classes, I was shocked when I first attended Ba Duan Jin, which is taught by Shifu Guolin. Although I have taken other classes with Shifu Guolin in the past, the teaching and experience level taught by Shifu was different from previous classes. The small class size enabled Shifu to teach and analyze every movement in small detail while also teaching us the health benefits of each movement of Ba Duan Jin. It made us feel that Shifu was personally teaching us all the secrets of kung fu he himself had obtained over the years. In the past, during practice we would only know one aspect of a movement or form, but we would be missing some other detail. In other words, we would know the end result or goal of our practice but we did not know how to get there. We would easily add our own misconceived ideas to practice qigong and assumed that it was correct. After attending Ba Duan Jin class, I understood many concepts and details that were muddy to me before. I knew that I practiced these movements wrong before and wasted time in doing so. I think that the practice of Ba Duan Jin is very valuable and with continued practice, I will gain many health benefits in the future. I will practice correctly without mistakes, or at least with less mistakes to avoid going astray. Through the proper practice of Ba Duan Jin, I felt my immune system improve since I began Shifu’ s course. In the past when it was winter (my first Ba Duan Jin class also started in the winter,) I always had an allergic reaction whenever I was exposed to cold air. After practicing Ba Duan Jin, my immune system has become stronger. I found that I could also treat my toothache and back pain through self- adjustment of breathing. The result was very effective. Other minor problems such as gastrointestinal discomfort were also easy to adjust. I will continue to practice what Shifu taught so that I could prevent diseases in my life for years to come. Nicole Drouot Ba Duan Jin has altered many things for me over the past five weeks. Sifu Guolin does an amazing job of paying close attention to the students to ensure proper alignment in order to reap the best benefits from these exercises. After carefully following his instruction, my posture has improved, my energy level has stayed consistent, my awareness has shifted, and my kung-fu practice has become increasingly better. I look forward to many more seminars, including one for Yi Ji Ying! Sifu Guolin is such a charm, and I feel honored to be a student and receive first hand knowledge of these very special and ancient techniques. Sifu Guolin is amazingly strong, in mind, body and spirit and serves as a true model for what one would look for in a master and in a monk.
